About UW ICTR

UW ICTR entrance

The goal of the University of Wisconsin Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (UW-ICTR) is to create an environment that transforms research into a continuum from investigation through discovery and to translation into real-life community practice, thereby linking even the most basic research to practical improvements in human health.

As a student interested in research, a junior investigator, a seasoned investigator, research staff, or a community volunteer, there is a place for you in the ICTR. You might be an NIH grant recipient, who uses free nursing, room, and ancillary support on the 18-room Clinical and Translational Research Core in UW Hospital and Clinics. You could be a researcher who can benefit from the Core Laboratory discounts. Faculty who bring scientifically sound Industry-initiated studies will also be welcomed, as government/school/industry collaboration is another part of ICTR.

Finally, by the interdisciplinary nature of the ICTR (Schools of Medicine and Public Health, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy) and the College of Engineering, the mission is to change the UW culture from “silos”, and levels to cooperation and collaboration amongst ICTR members and within the entire university. With this UW team and ICTR's northern partner Marshfield Clinic, our new Institute plans major advancements in clinical and translational research.
