Social (In)Justice and Mental Health

October 20, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Social injustice leads to mental health inequities and poor mental health outcomes, yet few understand the outsized role that it plays in the identification, diagnosis, and management of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This presentation by Ruth S. Shim, MD, MPH, of University of California-Davis will explore how social injustice manifests in our mental health care system and share strategies for achieving mental health equity in our communities and institutions.

The talk will last about 60 minutes followed by a 30 minute Q&A session. Folks can attend in-person (330 N Orchard St Madison WI), or via Zoom.
