ICTR Invites Self-Nominations for Co-Director of the Pilot Awards Program

The UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) is seeking an innovative, emotionally intelligent, and culturally aware leader to co-lead the ICTR Pilot Awards Program. Qualified applicants will be faculty members within any ICTR partner school* at the assistant/associate/full professor level (CHS or tenure track) with a demonstrated record of successful interdisciplinary clinical and translational research.

The ICTR Pilot Awards Program is an integrated home for receipt, review, and awarding of a diverse portfolio of pilot projects. Impacting the career development of many early-stage investigators, these Pilots span the entire diversity of translational research spectrum, including basic-translational, community-engaged, dissemination and implementation research, health equity, and health systems-focused awards.

The Co-Director will participate in all aspects of Pilot Awards Program administration, from pre- to post-award activities, including:

  1. Proposal solicitation and selection: Providing orientation sessions to applicants at the letter of intent stage, facilitating transparent and rigorous Scientific Merit review, and coordinating the ICTR External Community Review Committee (for community-engaged pilots).
  2. Participating in onboarding and training of Pilot awardees and team members to facilitate access to ICTR services, as well as supplemental ICTR trainings in team science, establishing trust, and community engagement.
  3. Collaborating with ICTR Program Leads and the Pilot Awards Program Manager to establish/modify program-specific RFAs and evaluation.
  4. Ensuring compliance with university and NIH regulations in animal, human subjects, and conflicts of interest policies.
  5. Working with ICTR Central Administration to allocate Pilot Award funds and to conduct evaluation and close-out of awards.
  6. Preparing and providing annual reports to Pilot Awards grant funders.
  7. Working with ICTR Leadership to assess, improve, and identify new opportunities for RFAs in the Pilot Awards Program portfolio.
