The Native American Center for Health Professions (NACHP) is pleased to announce the first Distinguished Lecture Series of the Spring 2021 semester featuring Jerry Waukau Sr., (Menominee Nation) from the Menominee Tribal Clinic, and Wendell Waukau MA, ES, (Menominee Nation) from the Menominee Indian School District. Their lecture will cover “Menominee’s Journey to a Culture of Health.”
This lecture is the story of one Tribal community’s path to heal their invisible wounds of Historical Trauma. Thanks to an on-going successful community engagement effort, the Menominee Nation is now on a journey to improve the health of their Tribal community that includes a patient-centered approach as well as a student-centered approach in their schools. This continuous improvement journey of cross sector community collaboration has earned the Menominee Nation national recognition as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Culture of Health Prize recipient in 2015
The lecture will be hosted via Zoom on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 11:30 – 1:00pm CT. This lecture series is sponsored by the Indians into Medicine (INMED), Indian Health Service grant.
