Mary brings to ICTR a strong background in health care communication, community engagement and project management. She received her bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism from Iowa State University and a master’s in Public Administration with a Certificate in Health Management from the UW-Madison LaFollette School of Public Affairs, and a Certificate in Project Management from UW Continuing Studies. Mary is passionate about community health engagement, having served as Meriter Health Services’ Community Relations Director for ten years. Most recently, she was UW-Madison’s Communications Director for the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement.

Mary serves as the program manager for ICTR Community-Academic Partnerships (ICTR-CAP), working closely with the Collaborative Center for Health Equity, the Dissemination & Implementation Launchpad and other ICTR programs to deliver outreach activities that enhance community engagement in research. She plays a pivotal role in connecting researchers to training and resources both within ICTR and with other UW-based organizations. Mary also fosters collaboration among community-based research ambassadors in ICTR and across campus to support community engagement in translational health research.
