Filut’s research is focused on understanding a root cause of health disparities, implicit or unconscious bias that arises from the existence of cultural stereotypes. She is particularly interested in identifying and remediating the impact of stereotype-based assumptions on clinical decision-making and on scientific and medical workforce diversity. She is a PhD student in the ICTR Clinical Investigation program. Filut’s primary mentor is Molly Carnes, MD, MS, Professor of Medicine, Psychiatry, and Industrial & Systems
Engineering, director of the UW-Madison Center for Women’s Health Research and co-director of
the Women in Science and Engineering Leadership Institute.
