Position title: Current TL1 Post-Doctoral Fellow
Nishtala is a General Surgery Resident in the Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care and Regional General Surgery with an research focus on health services with an emphasis on health equity, economics, and health policy. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, she will be using quantitative mixed-methods techniques to study the role of the economizing behaviors of financial hardship in mediating the health outcomes of injured patients. The title of her research is Financial Hardship for Injured Patients: The Role of Coping in Mediating Health-Related Quality of Life Outcomes. Nishtala is mentored by Ben Zarzaur, MD, MPH (School of Medicine and Public Health).
