Maria Schletzbaum

Schletzbaum, an MD-PhD student, is currently a PhD candidate in Epidemiology in the Department of Population Health Sciences where she is studying the determinants of autoimmune diseases. She is mentored by Christie Bartels, MD MS (Dept of Medicine-Rheumatology), and Brad Astor, PhD (Departments of Population Health Science and Medicine-Nephrology). She will address the differences in young and older adult lupus patient populations, use a care continuum framework to investigate retention in lupus care in young adult lupus patients, and correlate these factors with important clinical outcomes. Schletzbaum earned a BA in Environmental Biology in 2015 at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
