Position title: Protocol Development, Clinical Research Services & Networks
Jim Zacny, PhD, leads the ICTR Protocol Development Service and brings extensive research and scientific writing experience to the position. He is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care at University of Chicago where he served as director of the Psychomotor Performance Laboratory for two decades. He secured numerous grants from the NIH to conduct research on the psychopharmacological effects of drugs used for anesthesia and analgesia in healthy volunteers. For the past five years, Zacny has worked remotely for various academic medical centers, assisting investigators with the preparation of protocols, manuscripts and grants.
He earned his master’s degree in behavioral analysis and a doctorate in experimental psychology, both from West Virginia University, and completed postdoctoral training in psychopharmacology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
