Understanding Trauma: How Childhood Experiences Can Shape Your Life

Join the University of Wisconsin All of Us Research teams from Madison and Milwaukee for the first in a series of FREE lunch-hour educational sessions coming up on Wednesday, October 27th from 12:00 – 1:00pm CST.

Guest speaker Dr. Julie Poehlmann-Tynan will present on ‘Understanding Trauma: How Childhood Experiences Can Shape Your Life.’ Traditionally, “trauma” refers to a single disruptive incident and emotional response. This program seeks to understand an expanded use of the term that includes acute, complex, and chronic trauma and how each shapes our responses to everyday events. Dr. Poehlmann-Tynan will approach these forms of trauma by exploring the effect of negative experiences in childhood on lifelong wellbeing and by discussing recent research on Adverse Childhood Experiences.
