Lina DostilioCCHE would like to ensure you’re aware of two upcoming free special events on Monday, April 1 via the Morgridge Center for Public Service ~

Midwest Knowledge Mobilization Network (MKMN) Lunch Workshop

This 3-hour workshop will have an emphasis on how academic and community expertise interacts in the co-creation of knowledge and then is translated into practices and programs, and campus policies. Dr. Lina Dostilio, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community Engagement at the University of Pittsburgh, along with knowledge mobilizers at UW-Madison and other MKMN member schools will facilitate the sessions and share good practices from their experience. Opportunities for discussion, inquiry, networking, and workshopping participants’ projects will anchor interspersed small group sessions.

Embracing Community Wisdom: The University of Pittsburgh’s Neighborhood-based Community Engagement Centers

Dr. Lina Dostilio will tell the story of the University of Pittsburgh’s place-based community engagement initiative, “Pitt Neighborhood Commitments,” which led to the development of several neighborhood-based centers. She will share lessons learned as a leader of the initiative by reflecting on the university’s attention to real community agendas, social justice and community wisdom as a large research institution.

The lecture, free and open to the public, begins at 5:00pm in the H.F. DeLuca Forum at the Discovery Building. A reception with light appetizers will follow immediately after the lecture from 6 to 6:30pm.
