Overview

A large part of ICTRs mission is to help investigators enhance the quality, efficiency, and impact of their work. Yet for the individual investigator, knowing what resources are available, or even what specifically you need, can present a challenge.

If you need help at any stage of your clinical or translational research project, let ICTR’s navigators help direct you to services and advise you on your “next steps” in your research journey. We help faculty investigators across research planning stages, from developing the research questions to the onset of study execution.

ICTR’s navigator is a complimentary service available for faculty planning an investigator-initiated clinical research study (therapeutic, non-therapeutic, interventional and/or observational).

By working with a navigator, you can receive the following services:

  • Consultations with your navigator customized for your project.
  • Help identifying next steps and working through challenges and barriers.
  • Navigation of assistive services (e.g., BERD, Bioinformatics, Recruitment and Retention, etc.), which can include the navigator setting up meetings with these services and attending alongside you for support (if preferred).
  • Direction to resources and tools (e.g., protocol templates, ideas and templates for grant support documents, letters of support, etc.).
  • Connections to a broad set of experts with experience in answering study related questions and providing guidance to advance research.
  • Scheduling a group Studio (a single meeting to gather experts to seek advice on complex study issues).

The navigator can provide you with information on:

  • Internal funding opportunities.
  • Training opportunities.
  • Resources available.
  • Upcoming workshops and seminars.

The navigator can also provide educational sessions for divisions, departments, and individual study teams about the resources available within the ICTR and across UW-Madison to support specific research programs and projects.
