Marin Schweizer, PhD, is a professor in the Division of Infectious Disease at UW SMPH. She serves as the Co-Director of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research KL2 Scholars Program. Dr. Schweizer has an independently funded research program dedicated to prevention and optimal treatment of Staphylococcus aureus infections and surgical site infections.
Her recent research has focused on interventions to prevent S. aureus infections and surgical site infections as well as de-implementation of ineffective testing and treatment. Her work has been funded through the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Schweizer has a deep commitment to training and mentoring researchers. She has mentored many graduate students, medical students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical fellows, and early career faculty members.
