About
Monica Liu, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the department of Medicine. The title of her KL2 research is “Patient-Derived Organoid Models of Acute Lung Transplant Rejection.” This proposal aims to uncover features and mechanisms of epithelial injury in acute lung transplant rejection by using patient-derived organoids. Rejection limits patient survival after specific aims, objectives, or hypotheses; lung transplant but remains poorly understood due the significance of the proposed research and to a lack of experimental models. We will thus establish the first patient-derived models of acute cellular rejection and reveal mechanisms of end-organ injury, which could ultimately lead to targeted therapies.
