About
A Clinician Educator is “a clinician active in health professional practice who applies theory to education practice, engages in education scholarship, and serves as a consultant to other health professionals on education issues.” (Sherbino et al, 2014)
Are you mentoring a Clinician Educator? Would you like to optimize those efforts? If so, sign up for a 2-hour workshop designed to enhance the skills of Clinician Educator Mentors.
At the end of this evidence-based workshop, mentors will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Help mentees define demonstrable markers of progress toward career advancement on the clinical educator career track
- Develop a strategy for guiding the professional development of their clinical educator mentees using some form of written objectives and timelines
- Coach their mentees on prioritizing tasks that will lead to advancement/promotion (including possibility of tenure if available) and empower them to ask for what they need to succeed
- Develop a strategy with mentees to document, summarize, communicate, and disseminate their clinical work/success and educational innovation
This workshop is based upon the published workshop curriculum: Fostering Success and Promoting Professional Development of Clinician Educator Mentees: A Workshop for Mentors
The workshop will be co-facilitated by Drs. Amy Zelenski and Christine Pfund.
