The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) invites applications for the role of Co-Director of the TL1 Program.

The TL1 Program is a critical component of our Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), supporting the development of predoctoral and postdoctoral scholars engaged in multidisciplinary clinical and translational research. Please share this opportunity with qualified/interested individuals.

Position Overview

The TL1 Program provides robust training and mentorship to pre- and postdoctoral scholars from a variety of disciplines, fostering their ability to conduct impactful translational research. The TL1 Co-Director will join a multiple-PI team, working with the current TL1 Co-Director. ICTR executive leadership and a supportive Workforce Development team will collaborate with the multiple-PI team to enhance curriculum development, mentor trainees, and ensure the program’s alignment with national CTSA goals. This position involves 10-12% salaried effort (up to the NIH cap) with a starting date as early as April 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

• Co-Director the TL1 Program, contributing to strategic planning, execution, and evaluation.
• Mentor TL1 trainees, guiding them in research methodologies, grant writing, and career development.
• Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to enhance translational research training.
• Oversee curriculum development, workshops, and seminars to support trainee success.
• Contribute to program reporting, grant renewals, and compliance with NIH requirements.
• Foster a diverse, inclusive, and supportive training environment.

Required Qualifications

• A PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
• A tenure-track associate professor or professor.
• Experience mentoring predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
• A demonstrated track record in clinical and/or translational research with NIH funding.
• Familiarity with NIH training programs and CTSA initiatives.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with predoctoral or postdoctoral education programs.
• Experience with team science and multidisciplinary collaborations.
• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research training.
