Registration is now open for the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research Day on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The theme of this year’s event is Survive and Thrive in Uncertain Times.”

The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC) on the UW–Madison campus. Lunch is provided. There is no cost to attend, and registrations will be accepted through Aug. 25. (Register now.)

ICTR welcomes a wide range of attendees at this event, which is designed for those involved in, or interested in, research with health implications. Those early in their careers (including students), seasoned investigators, and those at career stages in between are all invited to participate in this dynamic day of learning and networking.

Dr. Geoff Curran of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will present the keynote. In keeping with the day’s theme of thriving amid uncertainty and potential setbacks, Dr. Curran will speak about “Lessons Learned from a Career Filled with Course Corrections, U-Turns, Flat Tires, and Engine Failures.”

The day also offers a choice of four interactive workshops. Each workshop will be held twice, so attendees can select two of the four choices. Workshop choices are:

  • Building team resiliency in times of crisis
  • Mentorship in times of crisis
  • Resilient by design: Reframing grant language for challenging times
  • Recruitment roadmap: Plan, recruit, succeed

Poster presenter Thomas Harr discusses his research with ICTR Executive Director Allan Brasier at the 2024 Research Day event.

Additionally, scientific posters are being accepted for a poster session in the HSLC atrium. Other event highlights include lightning talks, time for networking over lunch, and a panel at the end of the day that will explore avenues for diversifying sources of research funding (“Build a Diverse Funding Ecosystem: Insights Across Sectors”).

This event builds upon the success of the inaugural Institute for Clinical and Translational Research Day, which was held in January 2024 and had “Accelerate Your Impact” as its theme.

Find more details about the 2025 Research Day on our event page, including an agenda and more information about the workshops. You’ll also find contact information for requesting accommodations if needed to fully participate in this event.
