ICTR REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a largely self-service, secure, web-based application used for building and managing data collection forms. REDCap provides data management functionality by allowing the development of electronic instruments and surveys to support data capture for research studies, including those that involve protected health information (PHI).
REDCap provides: 1) an intuitive interface (with optional data validation for data captured on forms and surveys); 2) audit trails for tracking data manipulation and export procedures; 3) export procedures for seamless data downloads to common statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R); 4) Reporting capabilities and 5) procedures for importing data from external sources.

REDCap Training and Resources
The REDCap Consortium has developed a host of demonstration examples and learning resources for REDCap users to offer an opportunity to explore capabilities, functionality, and diverse data management features available.

Cost of Using ICTR REDCap
The cost of using REDCap for your research electronic data capture needs is $200 per REDCap project per year. The REDCap fees will be charged when the project initially goes into production, and annually thereafter.
NOTE: One clinical research study could use multiple REDCap projects to address the study specific research data capture needs. The cost is per REDCap project, not per study, therefore one (1) study that uses five (5) REDCap projects to collect research study data will cost $1000/year ($200/project/year x 5 projects = $1000/year)
Projects NOT considered research and NOT requiring IRB review/approval (i.e. for administrative purposes) can use REDCap at no cost.
Licensing and Citing
REDCap is licensed through the REDCap Consortium. UW ICTR is a member of the REDCap Consortium through the UW Health Informatics team. The REDCap Constortium is comprised of institutional partners representing Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) institutions and other research oriented centers and facilities around the world.
Studies that use REDCap for data collection and management are asked to cite the software as described below:
The project described was supported by the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program, through the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), grant UL1TR002373. The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the NIH.
In addition, REDCap users are asked to cite the publication below in study manuscripts. We recommend the following boilerplate language:
