Overview
The D&I Short Course is a forum for researchers and community stakeholders to explore the emerging fields of dissemination and implementation sciences with national and local experts. The course includes interactive sessions that navigate the steps from concept and design to adaptation and implementation in practice.
This short course attracts a multidisciplinary group from all over the world interested in learning about new concepts and frameworks, hearing examples being used in health care delivery and community settings, and applying this knowledge and expert feedback to their own projects and research.

Implementation Science and Human Factors for Translational Impact: Engineering Evidence-Based, Human-Centered Care

- Location: This is a hybrid event. Participants can attend online via Zoom or at the Health Sciences Learning Center, UW-Madison campus.

Learning objectives:
At the end of this short course, participants will be able to
- Identify and reframe translational science gaps as opportunities to use integrated implementation science/human factors approaches to redesign care so that it is both evidence-based and human-centered.
- Define and distinguish core concepts, theories, and methods of implementation science and human factors and explain their complementary roles in health care improvement.
- Select appropriate implementation science/human factors-informed strategies to address a health care or translational science implementation challenge, considering key contextual factors that influence work processes.

- A panel discussion highlighting how human factors and implementation science can be applied to improve health care delivery, medication use, patient safety, and health system performance.
- 11 a.m.-noon: Practical Systems Design: An Interactive Workshop to Solve Implementation Challenges
- An interactive session focused on applying systems thinking and design principles to real-world implementation challenges.
