About

The April Clinical Trials Community of Practice will feature Adam Gepner, MD, associate professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at UW–Madison.

Presentation Description: Embarking on a multi-center randomized controlled trial (RCT) requires a shift from scientific clinical oversight to strategic operational leadership. In this session, Dr. Gepner shares “The Multi-Site Manifesto”—a practical roadmap for PIs looking to expand their research footprint.

The talk will move beyond the protocol to address the “who, when, and how” of collaborative execution, including:

  • Strategic Site Selection: Determining the “Goldilocks” number of sites and picking collaborators for targeted recruitment and demographic diversity.
  • The Pillars of Standardization: Why the Manual of Procedures (MOP) is your most powerful tool for ensuring protocol fidelity.
  • Navigating the Infrastructure: Streamlining IRB hurdles, Data Safety Monitoring Boards (DSMB), Adverse Event Reporting, and regulatory harmonization.
  • The Human Element: Setting clear expectations for site PIs and empowering study coordinators—the true “best friends” of any successful multisite trial.

Whether you are currently planning a multi-center study or looking to optimize an existing network, this seminar offers real-world lessons on managing the complexity of distributed clinical research.
