Application deadline: Sept. 2, 2025
The Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) KL2 Program is a critical component of our Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), supporting the development of early-career faculty engaged in interdisciplinary clinical and translational research to independence.
The KL2 Program provides robust, competency-based training and mentorship to scholars from a variety of disciplines, fostering their ability to conduct impactful translational research/science. The program has supported over 90 early-stage faculty from across the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Marshfield Clinic who are developing careers as independent translational researchers.
ICTR is seeking a UW–Madison faculty member to join us as Co-Director of the KL2 Program. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, emotionally intelligent leader at the associate professor or professor level who has extensive experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to conduct and disseminate translational and clinical research. They will have, at a minimum, a clinical degree (MD, DVM, DO, PharmD, DNP, etc.) and be clinically active (engaged in direct patient care). In addition, the candidate will have a track record of extramural funding, with currently active support, and a history of mentoring trainees to independence.
The new KL2 Co-Director will join a multiple-PI team, working with the current KL2 Program Directors. ICTR executive leadership and a supportive Workforce Development team will collaborate with the MPI team to enhance skill development, mentor scholars, and ensure the program’s alignment with national CTSA goals.
The new Co-Director will initially serve in a more limited role [5-8% salaried effort (up to the NIH cap)] to mentor program scholars, particularly those scholars who are clinician scientists. If interested, the new Co-Director can have a role in shaping the future of the KL2 program by participating in planning sessions for the grant renewal to be submitted September 2026. The effort associated with this role will increase in the future as one of the current Directors transitions out of the workforce, at a date to be determined.
Application Process
Interested candidates should submit the following materials to info@ictr.wisc.edu no later than Sept. 2, 2025:
- A cover letter outlining qualifications and interest in the role.
- A current CV.
