Mentorship from an experienced and knowledgeable advisor frequently serves as a foundational element in the development of a successful researcher. ICTR is recognizing two mentors whose dedication to faculty mentorship is helping shape the future of the UW–Madison research community.

The ICTR Faculty Mentorship Awards honor individuals who have supported the career and personal growth of clinical and translational research faculty through intentional, evidence-based mentorship practices.

The 2025 winners of the UW ICTR Faculty Mentorship Award are:

The 2025 ICTR Faculty Mentorship Awards were presented on Sept. 10 during ICTR’s annual Research Day event, a gathering that celebrates collaboration, innovation, and the advancement of clinical and translational science. In addition to the attendees at Research Day, Drs. Coller and Heiderscheit were joined by their departments to celebrate this achievement.

The two awardees were chosen from a strong pool of nominees. Award selection criteria were aligned with recommendations from the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) 2019 consensus report on the science of effective mentorship.

ICTR congratulates Drs. Coller and Heiderscheit for their dedication to mentorship and their contributions to the UW–Madison research community.
