To support scholars whose lived experiences inform their career pathway, the Collaborative Center for Health Equity (CCHE) established three mentored professional development programs to provide support and resources to scholars as they navigate critical career junctures through training and mentorship. To support part-time (i.e., enrolled in fewer than eight credits) PhD students at UW-Madison, CCHE created ADEPT (Advancing Diversity and Equity in Pre-doctoral Trainees). This mentored professional development program for students whose scholarship falls within the translational research spectrum.
ADEPT provides up to two years of support, including monthly meetings with Amy Filut, three mentor meetings over a year, and professional development programming. ADEPT scholars receive funding to cover tuition and fees and can submit a request for travel funds to present their research at a professional meeting.
ADEPT scholars are invited to participate in ICTR-sponsored Mentoring Up training. ADEPT mentors are invited to complete mentor training if they have not previously participated in a formalized mentor training program.
