Overview

TL1 predoctoral awards support UW–Madison trainees from different backgrounds with research interests in translational science. Find greater detail on the TL1 Training Awards program page and in the Request for Applications document under “How to Apply” on this page.

Trainees earn a stipend, health insurance, tuition and fees, and a travel allowance.

NIH predoctoral stipend, fringe, tuition support, travel support

Duration:

The ICTR TL1 is up for a competitive renewal in 2026 and will transition to a T32. Due to this transition, trainees will only be guaranteed for 1 year on the grant from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Additional funding is dependent upon successful competitive renewal of the training program.

Special Criteria:

Translational research project, 1-2 mentors
