A new peer mentoring will support those in the UW–Madison community who are involved in clinical trials. This mentoring program is being convened through the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR).
Mentoring plays a key role in the career success of faculty members. In that spirit, this new program will pair experienced clinical trialists with those interested in being involved in clinical trials (as sub-I, co-I, lead site PI, etc.).
This program begins October 19, 2026, and will last through May 14, 2027. It is a pilot program, and the goal is to strengthen UW–Madison’s overall clinical research enterprise by supporting connections and knowledge exchange between established and emerging research investigators.
Those interested in being a peer mentor for a new trialist are warmly encouraged to fill out a short survey below by Oct. 10, 2026. Access the survey here.
The practice of mentoring benefits mentees and mentors alike. Mentees gain valuable assistance in getting started in a clinical trials career, and mentors disseminate their knowledge and expertise. Matches and more details will be announced in mid-October.
Dr. Nasia Safdar, ICTR Director of Investigator-Initiated and Multisite Research, is leading the effort. Questions about the inaugural cohort of this peer mentoring program may be directed to Dr. Safdar or Theresa Lins, PMP.
