Overview

Led by Dr. Michelle Chui, ADEPT supports part-time PhD students (enrolled in fewer than eight credits) in in the translational, biomedical research workforce who are committed to improving health for all in. Through a structured, cohort-based model, ADEPT provides scholars with the time, resources, and mentoring needed to thrive academically and professionally while navigating the unique challenges of part-time doctoral training.

As an ADEPT Scholar, you will: 

  • Attend in-person cohort sessions twice each semester
  • Attend check-in meetings with Dr. Amy Filut, administrative lead
  • Attend a mentor meeting each semester (fall, spring, and summer)

As an ADEPT Scholar, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in ICTR TL1 professional development meetings and Writing Workshops
  • Participate in ICTR-sponsored Mentoring Up training.

Application Details

Terms:

$12,000 scholarship ($4,000 per semester; fall, spring, and summer)
$500 in travel funds per year (plus $500 in travel funds to be provided by advisor, graduate program, or research team)

Duration:

Up to 2 years

Applicant Eligibility:

PhD student

Graduate program supports clinical and translational research
Dissertation aims to improve health for all
Applicants have overcome adversity in their life/career

Special Criteria:

Part-time non-dissertator PhD students (enrolled in fewer than eight credits)
